Going Home!

After one night in the hospital, everyone was doing well and we were able to go home! This was pretty overwhelming – and just as everyone said – there was no way we could really prepare ourselves but we were ready. The nurses gave us a ton of instructions and information, and once they checked AJ in his car seat – off we went!

Hello world!

7 pounds 15 ounces 21 inches long

7 pounds 15 ounces 21 inches long

AJ is here! He arrived 10 days earlier than scheduled, and we are so excited!

I woke up and felt like I might be in labor, so I called my mom and got in the tub (after filling with hot water). She insisted that I get out of the tub and wake up Andre so that we could go to the hospital. I got off the phone and sat in the tub a little longer – it felt so good! As the pain got worse I decided to go ahead wake up Andre, so we could go to the doctor. I was scheduled for a check that day anyway, so they took me early. To our surprise, Dr. Suiter told us to go the hospital right away, I was dialated 7cm! We headed to the hospital, and sent out a mass text message (technology is amazing).

When I arrived at the hospital, the nurses said I was “all smiles”. I think I was so excited to meet AJ that I couldn’t help but smile. After settling in, we decided I would get the epidural – and frankly that hurt worse than the contractions! After it kicked in, I couldn’t feel anything – not even my legs! I slept a while, and then AJ was born at 4:18 p.m on August 6, 2009.
